Time With The GTH Girls or Van Problems

Last Friday evening we went to our Bible Study group and we took JT, Ryan and Danielle along with us. We thought since we had a vehicle and a driver (JT) we would drive there instead of taking public transportation. There was a train going by and for some reason in Romania they put the crossing bar down 10 to 15 minutes before the train comes so it creates a huge traffic jam. We tried to get around this by going a different way but that was also backed up so we were running pretty late. We parallel parked on the side of the road along with many other cars. When we came out of the building after Bible Study we were surprised that the van was not there and neither were any other cars! We looked around and then called Costel, the Romanian President of H2H. Thankfully we were very near his house so we walked over there since it was so freezing outside. Costel made some phone calls and finally found out that the van was towed because we were in a no parking zone. We didn't think we were especially because of the other cars there and because we didn't know the signs well enough. Thankfully God provided for us - just that day Costel had picked up one of the vans that had been gone for months being repaired! We made it home late and picked up the van in the morning, then we headed to the Girls Transition House. We spent the night and did lots of fun activities like:

Cooking

Playing guitar

Getting a manicure

And making a puzzle, playing games on iPhones and real ping pong, and watching Mr. Bean. We spent the night there and Sunday morning we were going to go to church with the girls, but the van wouldn't start. After wearing ourselves out by trying to push start the van on ice we called Jenny and she came and picked us up. After about 10 minutes that van overheated! JT took the cap off the antifreeze tank and we saw the most spectacular geyser. We were at a service station so we bought jumper cables, JT & Mark waited for the van to cool down and then drove back to the house to jump start the dead van. Everyone else walked to the staff apartment and waited to be picked up. It was quite the weekend for the vans, but the fun wasn't over. Tuesday we were going to go to the GTH again before going to the orphanage in the afternoon. Low and behold the one remaining drivable van had a flat tire, and we couldn't pump it up because the seal was broken. So we changed that tire and then continued on. Once there we helped make lunch while JT worked on the vans and Ryan & Danielle taught the girls a lesson on anger management.

Please continue to pray for the doctors to let us in the baby hospital, it has been such a long time since we've been there.
